Fahle restaurant is named after the building it is located in. The man behind the name is a German businessman Emil Fahle, who was born in Westfahlen, Germany in 1875. He came to Tallinn when he was twenty years old and according to a legend he only had five rubles in his pocket when he arrived here. His clever mind and self-confidence paved him the way to become the director and also the main stock-holder of Fahle paper-factory in just ten years. Fahle became one of the most important factories in Tallinn and Emil Fahle’s excellent management made it possible for the factory to survive the difficulties of First Worl d War and also the economic crisis in the 1930s.
Both Fahle restaurant and the building are proud of its name – it is to crown the enterprising and progressive mind.
